Fédération Québécoise de l'Autisme
For information tailored to your needs

The Fédération québécoise de l'autisme (FQA) is a provincial group of organisations and individuals who share the interests of people with autism and their families. Since 1976, the FQA has been working to respect and promote their well-being and rights. In carrying out its mission to raise awareness and provide information, and in contributing to the development of knowledge on the subject, the FQA is the undisputed authority on autism in Quebec.

No problems, only solutions

When we helped the FQA redesign its website, we had to think about three key parameters simultaneously: the vast amount of information available, the wide range of audiences for which it is intended, and its accessibility. With these factors in mind, and through a clear and structured reorganisation, our objective was to make the new FQA site visually appealing, and the search for information easy and fluid, regardless of the visitor's profile.

Structuring the vast amount of information on the site and optimising its management

With thousands of resources on the site adapted to each of the FQA's audiences, downloadable educational material available to professionals and caregivers, and a huge library, our first challenge was to ensure that each visitor could find their way around. We therefore had to reorganise and build the entire architecture of the site and its content to make it easy for everyone to navigate and access the resources.

Having put in place a data migration process that was considerably accelerated with the help of AI, the implementation of a new technological platform enabled us to empower the FQA team to facilitate its day-to-day content management.

Taking into account the diversity of audiences and their specific needs and objectives

In order to be a reliable reference point for everyone, from autistic people, their families and friends, to professionals in the sector, the website had to meet the specific needs of each of these client groups. We therefore reviewed the site's general approach and proposed a new profile-based approach. This was followed by a process of segmenting the information and creating sections dedicated to these different user profiles. When visitors log on to the website, they start by choosing the category to which they belong: autistic person, parent or caregiver, autism professional. They will then have access to content tailored to their specific needs.

Creating a website that is accessible to everyone

Given the subject it covers and the particular characteristics of the autistic public it is aimed at, the website had to be designed with accessibility in mind. Whether in the structure of its content, how easily it can be navigated and interacted with, the choice of colour contrasts, the use of gender-neutral language, or the use of appropriate HTML tags, we have ensured that the site provides an optimal inclusive online experience for everyone.
